A towel.
A towel becomes wet while doing its job of drying something else. As it absorbs water from your body or hands, it gets soaked even though it is helping you dry off. For example, after a shower, the more you use the towel, the wetter it becomes. This opposite action is the trick behind the riddle and why the answer feels satisfying.
